Sacre Coeur ~ Indigenous Perspective Program

I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the vibrant community of Sacre Coeur, an independent Catholic school, as part of their cultural immersion program. For a week, I served as an Artist in Residence, bringing the art of weaving to life while engaging in meaningful conversations.

Guided by the school's commitment to building community as a Christian value, a dedicated group of 30 students from Years 7 to 12 formed our Art Club for Term 2. Over three after-school sessions, we embarked on a journey of creativity and collaboration, each student crafting their own unique weave artwork.

Weaving, a traditional Indigenous art form, holds deep cultural significance. It symbolizes the interconnection of stories, people, and the land. Through this ancient craft, we explored the power of working together and embracing unity.

I extend my sincere gratitude to Sacre Coeur for inviting me to be a part of their Indigenous Perspective Program and for embracing the power of art to bridge cultures and build community. It is through experiences like these that we foster a brighter and more inclusive future, where "what we do, we do together."
