The Coorong (kurrangk) is my Grandmothers Country, A place where I feel my deepest connection to Country, where my Elders guide me and share with me their knowledge about our lands and the way we need to listen to them. The lakes and waterways of the rivers have enabled us to sustain our traditional practices, Aunties still harvest from the land - collecting the sedges and reeds, ensuring there is enough left for the years to follow, sharing the practices together on how to dry, process and then stitch. We look to nature to follow the seasons, to the plants and animals to tell us what to do next and we listen intently to the knowledge keepers who generously teach younger generations our traditional ways, they constantly remind us everything is connected.
